As cyber threats persist, public agencies are at a greater risk and need more preparation
Cincinnati-OH – March 28, 2013 – Christopher Bomar, president of Boomarang Data Backup and Security will conduct Managing Your Cyber Liability workshop for members of the Miami Valley Risk Management Association (MVRMA) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
As cyber criminals and hackers become more savvy, municipal agencies are increasingly becoming more vulnerable to attacks. Cyber threats and data security breaches are expected to increase over the next few years and municipal agencies must be better prepared. “More employee awareness and technical trainings are necessary. Cyber security is no longer simply an IT function. It has to become embedded in organizational culture—from administrators to frontline employees– in order to stay ahead of threats and breaches,” says Bomar.
The workshop will address ways to reduce risk of loss, disaster recovery, and business continuity. MVRMA’s Loss Control Manager, Starr Markworth says that risk of cyber threats are on the rise for public entities and planning is the most important part of avoiding a breach of information. “This program will give practical information and tips on reducing the threats.”
The workshop will be held at the Miami Valley Communications Council, 1195 East Alex Bell Road, Centerville OH and city administrators, risk managers, IT managers, network administrators, and municipal department heads are encouraged to attend. The cost is $40 for members and $60 for non-members.
